Plastic sheet pre-molded with a Zimmerit pattern — the rough textured anti-magnetic mine coating applied to late-war German tanks from 1943 to 1944. An A4-sized sheet gives you enough material to cover multiple tank builds without having to sculpt Zimmerit by hand from putty.

Real Zimmerit was a textured paste German factories applied to tanks during 1943-44 to prevent magnetic mines from sticking. Reproducing that texture by hand using putty and rollers is one of the hardest skills in tank modeling. This pre-molded sheet skips that work entirely — cut sections to fit your tank, glue them on, paint, and you're done.

Works great for:

  • 1/35 late-war German tank builds — Tiger I, Tiger II, Panther, Panzer IV, StuG III, Stug IV
  • Specifically vehicles produced between mid-1943 and September 1944 (when Zimmerit was discontinued)
  • Reference-photo recreation of Zimmerit-coated historical vehicles
  • Detail-up of any kit that doesn't include molded Zimmerit
  • Beginner-friendly alternative to sculpting your own Zimmerit from putty

Key features:

  • Plastic sheet pre-molded with authentic Zimmerit pattern
  • A4 size — substantial material for multiple tank builds
  • Trumpeter / Mastertools 09972 product
  • Cut to any shape with scissors or hobby knife
  • Attach with plastic cement, CA glue, or epoxy

How to apply:

  1. Identify the surfaces of your tank that need Zimmerit coverage (hull sides, turret sides, glacis on most vehicles)
  2. Cut a section of sheet slightly larger than the area
  3. Test-fit on the curved or flat surface before gluing
  4. Apply plastic cement or CA glue to the tank's surface
  5. Press the Zimmerit sheet into position and hold until set
  6. Trim flush with hobby knife once attached
  7. Prime and paint to match the rest of the tank's camouflage

Historical note: Zimmerit was applied only to vehicles produced between July 1943 and September 1944. Earlier or later production runs don't have it. Verify with reference photos for your specific vehicle.
