Mountain making plaster cloth

Plaster cloth rolls for building mountains, hills, rocky outcrops, and any large terrain feature on dioramas, model railway layouts, and wargame boards. The cheap, fast, and forgiving way to sculpt scenic geography — wet the cloth, drape it over your support structure, and it hardens into solid terrain in minutes.

Real-world use: cut to the size you need, scrunch up newspaper or any waste material as a support shape, drape the wet plaster cloth over it, and shape with your hands. As it dries, it becomes rigid and paintable. Several rolls covers an enormous amount of layout area.

Choose your roll size:

• 7.5cm × 4m: compact size — small terrain features, dioramas
• 8cm × 3m: standard — typical diorama and layout work
• 10cm × 3m: wider strips — faster large-area coverage
• 10cm × 4.5m: wider strips, longer roll — large terrain projects
• 15cm × 4.5m: widest — maximum coverage for big layouts and large dioramas

How to use:

1. Build a rough armature with cardboard, foam, scrunched newspaper, or wire mesh
2. Cut the plaster cloth into strips with scissors
3. Dip each strip in water for 1-2 seconds, then drape over the armature
4. Smooth and shape with your fingers — overlap strips for strength
5. Let dry fully (typically 30 minutes to a few hours depending on humidity)
6. Once hard, paint with earth tones, drybrush rock highlights, add static grass and bushes for finished scenery

To finish the terrain after the plaster dries, add our tree bark rocks for boulder detail and static grass for vegetation cover.
