Today, I want to share my experience with a specific product, the reciprocating sander.
As you know, it comes with eight sanding heads and some sandpaper; however, there are three reasons why I think having extra heads and sandpaper can make your life much easier.
1 - Faster builds:
When I'm building my models, I typically use sandpapers with grits #400 and #600.
If I want to use these two grits throughout the build and only have one head of each shape, I constantly have to remove the #400 sandpaper, stick the #600 one, sand, and then, as the build progresses, remove the #600 one and go back to #400.
That's a lot of time spent changing sandpaper, and makes the builds cumbersome.
If you have two or more similar heads, and stick different grit papers to each, switching between them takes about two seconds.
2 - Less wasted sandpaper
As you can easily imagine from the example described above, you would waste sandpaper each time you want to switch to a different grit.
This eats through the supplied sheets of pre-cut sandpaper fast.
If you can keep the sandpaper attached to a head and use it for a longer time because you have head replacements, they will last longer.
3 - Fewer roadblocks and lost time
Imagine you need to sand and have run out of the shape and grit of the sandpaper you need.
Even if you placed an order online at that time, you would have to wait for a few days before you can continue the build.
And nothing is more frustrating than having to pause a build and lose your mojo because you lack supplies.
I find these reasons strong enough for me to want to stock on extra heads and sandpaper.
