Hobby Mio 1/8in Airbrush Moisture Trap

A lightweight inline moisture trap and air filter that screws between the hose and the airbrush. Compressed air carries water and oil vapour, and both of them reach the paint cup eventually. When they do you get spitting, blistered finishes and a spot of clear liquid in the middle of a coat you had almost finished.

What It Catches

Condensed water from the tank and the line, compressor oil mist, and the fine dust that collects in a hose left open on the bench. The bowl is clear, so you can see what it has caught and drain it before it backs up.

Fitting

1/8in thread, the standard airbrush and hose fitting, so it goes straight on to most setups without an adapter. It is light enough to sit at the airbrush end of the hose rather than down at the compressor, which is the position that actually keeps the last stretch of line dry. There is a drain at the base for emptying it without breaking the connection.

When It Matters Most

Humid rooms, long spraying sessions, and any tankless compressor, since those three are where water reaches the needle fastest. Large smooth panels in gloss show the defect first, so car bodies and aircraft undersides are the builds that benefit most.
