HARVEY 18470 1/96 Battleship copper hull
Roll of 500 brass hull plates for sheathing the lower hull of the Harvey 1847 1/96 wooden ship model — recreating the copper-sheathed hull that protected period sailing ships from worm damage and marine fouling below the waterline.
Period sailing ships like the Harvey 1847 had their underwater hulls covered in overlapping copper plates. This roll lets you replicate that authentic detail on your model, plate by plate, for a finish that's impossible to achieve with paint alone. Each plate measures 14 × 4mm at 1/96 scale — proportioned to match historical copper sheathing dimensions.
How it's applied:
- Apply each plate individually to the lower hull using CA glue or contact adhesive
- Overlap them in rows like fish scales, working from the keel upward
- Once complete, leave them in natural brass finish or weather them with a green patina wash for an aged copper look
Works great for:
- Harvey 1847 (HARVEY 18470) 1/96 wooden ship model — original purpose
- Other 1/96 period wooden ship and schooner builds
- Any 1/96 ship model where authentic copper hull sheathing is needed
- Display-quality builds where surface detail matters
Key features:
- 500 plates per roll — enough for a full Harvey 1847 lower hull
- Each plate: 14 × 4mm at 1/96 scale
- Brass construction — accurate color and weight
- Apply with CA glue or contact adhesive
- Can be weathered with patina washes for aged copper effect
