1/72 Airfield Apron Diorama Bases (19 Patterns Available)
1/72 Airfield Apron Diorama Bases (19 Patterns Available) - E72027 is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Printed 1/72 apron and taxiway bases that put a finished aircraft on a surface instead of on a bare shelf. Each reference is a different stretch of airfield: concrete slab patterns, worn asphalt, painted taxi lines, hardstand edges and revetment ground, so the base you pick sets the era and the airfield as much as the paint scheme does.
Why It Changes The Model
An aircraft photographed or displayed on plain white reads as a kit. The same aircraft sitting on jointed concrete with oil staining and faded yellow guidance lines reads as an aircraft. It is the cheapest way to lift a finished build, and it takes no groundwork skill at all.
Choosing A Pattern
Nineteen references run from E72027 to E72045. They cover clean modern apron concrete, weathered wartime slab, asphalt with repairs and patching, marked taxiway and holding areas, and rougher dispersal ground. Pick by the period and the air force you are modelling; several also work under 1/72 ground vehicles and support equipment.
Use
Lay it flat as supplied, or mount it on foamboard or a picture frame for a rigid display piece. It takes pigments and a matt varnish well if you want to tie it to the specific weathering on your airframe.
