The cut you keep missing

There's a cut on every detailed kit your straight nipper can't make.

The gate is there. The blade can't sit on it — because the handle's in the way, or another part is, or the runner's buried. So you tilt the cutter, lever the sprue, and sand the nub flush.

Then primer goes on, and a ghost mark shows up exactly where the gate used to be.

That mark didn't come from your sanding. It came from cutting at a forced angle.

Why the angle matters

A straight nipper puts the cutting head in line with the handle. On a buried gate, the handle blocks a flat approach — so the blade enters at an angle and pushes force sideways through the plastic.

That sideways stress is invisible until primer. Then it's a ghost line, a hairline, or a micro-part snap.

An angled head rotates the cutting plane off the handle axis. Blade sits flat. Force goes through the gate, not into the part. One pass, clean cut, no ghost.

What it changes on your bench

  • Reaches gates buried behind wheels, frames, or already-attached parts
  • No more levering the sprue to "help" the cut
  • Fewer stress marks under primer
  • Less sanding rework, fewer panel lines lost
  • Fewer micro-parts snapping at the gate

Specs

  • For: Plastic and resin sprue gates
  • Not for: Metal wire, photo-etch, piano wire

FAQ

Replaces my regular nipper? No. It's the second cutter for gates a straight one can't reach flat.

Cuts photo-etch or wire? No. Plastic and resin only — metal will chip the edge.

For beginners? Works at any level. Intermediates feel the difference fastest.
