Metal Photo-Etch Detail Parts For Gunpla

Etched metal sheets carrying hundreds of ready made detail parts for Gunpla and mecha kits. Each fret holds rows of tiny discs, vents, hatches and panels in graduated sizes, from 1.5 mm up to 6 mm, that you cut free with a hobby knife and fit into the recesses moulded into the armour.

It is the fastest way to turn a flat panel into something that reads as machinery. A decal sits on top of the surface and can silver or lift; an etched part sits down inside the recess and catches the light like the metal fitting it imitates.

Six patterns to choose from

MX049 through MX054, each a different mix of shapes and sizes. MX049 is built around circular details, ringed and slotted discs in graduated diameters. MX052 works in squares and rectangles. MX054 packs 219 individual pieces across eleven sizes, from 1.5 mm to 6 mm. Pick the one that suits your build, or take the set of six and mix them across a single model so no two panels repeat.

How to use them

1. Cut the part free from the fret with a sharp blade, working on a hard surface rather than a cutting mat
2. Lift it with fine tweezers and test fit it in the recess before committing
3. Fix it with a drop of thin cyanoacrylate or UV resin
4. Paint before or after fitting, depending on whether you want the bare metal to show

Good to know

• Etched metal, not stickers: the parts are cut and glued, not peeled
• Fine tweezers and a fresh blade make the job far easier
• The fret is consumed as you use it, so a busy build may need more than one
