1/35 Photoetch Tropical Plants
Photoetched brass tropical plants for 1/35 dioramas — fine in-scale leafy plants designed for jungle floor vegetation, tropical forest undergrowth, and any scene where realistic broad-leafed plants belong. The photoetch material captures the delicate detail of tropical leaves in a way that plastic alternatives can't match.
Use the leaves straight from the fret, bent into natural shapes and painted in tropical greens. Compared to bamboo and palm trees that dominate vertically, these tropical plants provide horizontal ground-level vegetation — the undergrowth detail that turns a jungle diorama from "trees in a field" into a believable rainforest environment.
Works great for:
- 1/35 jungle and rainforest dioramas — Pacific theatre, Vietnam War, modern tropics
- Vietnam War rice paddies and jungle ambush scenes
- Tropical wargame terrain — skirmish boards in jungle settings
- Pacific theatre WWII dioramas — Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Philippines
- Modern combat dioramas — Iraq jungles, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin American settings
Key features:
- Photoetched brass tropical plant leaves
- 1/35 scale — proportioned for standard military modeling
- Multiple leaf shapes for natural variety
- Cut from fret with hobby knife or PE scissors
- Bendable — hold natural curves once formed
How to use:
- Cut individual leaves from the brass fret with a sharp hobby knife or PE scissors
- Gently bend each leaf to create natural drape and curvature
- Prime with metal primer, then paint with acrylics — tropical greens with darker shadow tones and lighter highlights at leaf tips
- Attach to your diorama base or to scratch-built stems with CA glue
- Add weathering pigments to integrate naturally with the ground
Tip: Plant the leaves in irregular clumps of 3-5 at varying angles — real tropical plants grow in clusters with leaves pointing in different directions. Uniform alignment reads as artificial.
For a complete tropical scene, combine with our 1/35 palm trees with resin trunks and PE leaves for vertical elements, and our bamboo plants for additional vertical vegetation.
