5mm brown turf static grass — the dual-purpose scenic material that works as pine needle scatter under conifer trees, or as bare dirt and brown earth ground cover where grass shouldn't be.

Unlike the green or yellow grasses in our static grass range, this brown variant isn't grass — it represents the dried needles, leaf litter, and bare earth of forest floors, especially under pine and conifer trees where fallen needles cover the ground year-round. Or use it as exposed soil, paths, and erosion patches between grassy areas for natural ground variation.

Quick scale guide:

  • HO / OO (1:87, 1:76): pine forest floors, dirt paths, bare earth patches
  • N (1:160): woodland ground cover, forest scenery
  • 1/35, 1/48 dioramas: pine needle scatter under trees, forest floor detail, exposed soil

Works great for:

  • Pine forest and conifer woodland dioramas — needle-covered ground
  • Pacific Northwest, Scandinavian, and alpine layouts
  • Forest floor scatter around diorama trees
  • Bare earth patches between grass areas — natural ground variation
  • Hunting and rural cabin dioramas
  • WWII Eastern Front winter and Ardennes scenes — leaf litter under bare trees

Key features:

  • 5mm fiber length
  • Brown turf / pine needle color
  • Dual use — pine needle scatter or bare earth ground cover
  • Apply by hand or with a static grass applicator
  • Attach with PVA glue (white glue)

Tip: For convincing forest floor scenes, scatter this around tree bases first, then add small patches of green grass at the edges where light reaches the floor. Pure carpets of either color read as artificial; the mixed, transitional look reads as a real woodland environment.
